Bugs

Spots on the windshield
Bugs giving their all
To harass me

Wind whispers in the trees
Memories of storms past

English Haiku

I've been reading that English haiku is not so much about form as content.  The idea is to invoke a feeling without expressing it.  I'm learning the 5-7-5 syllable form is more for Japanese haiku than English.

Understanding the above, I'm going to subject you to some new efforts.

Sheets of rain
Cold soggy boots
Warm fire

Spring storm
Trees bow
Spots on the window

Wind music
In the trees
Lullaby

Rain on the roof
White noise orchestra
Comfy in bed

Fears

From the east comes dawn
A new day is upon us
Old fears swept away

Midnight Sun

Bright midnight sun
Shines through bedroom windowpane
Sleep eludes tonight

Sun shines on bald head
Many are the blisters tomorrow
Soaking head in ice

Today's Ofering

I'm told that many were exposed to haiku as a child in school.  Everyone I've talked to so far was. Must have been after my time because I only heard of haiku a few years back.  I'm having fun with it now though.

Forest creek beckons
Bare skin gentle breeze caresses

I've Discovered Haiku

I’ve just discovered how fun composing Haiku is so I’m subjecting you to some of my first efforts.

Wind gently through the trees
Smell of pine on a warm day
A moment of quiet rest

Rain falls in winter storms
The roof leaks water down the wall
Quick call the plumber

School bus full of fun
Summer is here students wild
Oh the joy of youth

Storm raging, bent trees
Warm coco waiting at home
Cozy fire, cold feet
